Cookie Policy
Scratch · onescratch.com Effective Date: July 1, 2026 | Last Updated: July 1, 2026 | Version: 1.0
1. About This Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Onescratch Inc. (“Scratch,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on onescratch.com (the “Platform”). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
- Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies such as pixels and web beacons, local storage, and software development kits (SDKs).
- “First-party” technologies are set by us; “third-party” technologies are set by others, such as analytics or advertising providers. “Session” cookies expire when you close your browser; “persistent” cookies remain for a set period.
3. Why We Use Them
We use these technologies to keep the Platform working and secure, to remember your preferences and sign-in, and to understand how the Platform is used so we can improve content and comparison features. We do not currently use cookies for advertising; if that changes, we will update this Policy and, where required, obtain your consent first.
4. Categories of Cookies We Use
The table below reflects the technologies we currently use. “Consent required” reflects jurisdictions (such as the EEA/UK) where non-essential cookies require consent.
| Category | Purpose | Examples | Consent required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Enable core functionality, authentication, security, and load balancing. | Magic-link session/authentication cookie; security cookie | No (essential) |
| Performance / analytics | Measure traffic and usage so we can improve features and comparison content. | Plausible Analytics (privacy-friendly and cookieless — no analytics cookie is set) | No (cookieless) |
| Functional | Remember your settings and preferences, such as saved comparisons or language. | Preference cookies, where used | Yes, where required |
| Targeting / advertising | Deliver and measure advertising, including interest-based ads and conversion tracking. | None currently in use | Yes |
5. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies and similar technologies may be set by third parties, such as analytics and advertising partners, which may collect information about your activity over time and across sites. Their use of data is governed by their own privacy and cookie policies. At launch, our only analytics provider is Plausible Analytics (plausible.io), which is cookieless and does not track you across sites. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies.
6. Your Choices and How to Manage Cookies
- Browser controls: most browsers let you block or delete cookies; doing so may affect how the Platform works. Because we do not currently set non-essential or advertising cookies, no separate cookie-consent banner is required at this time.
- Opt-out signals: we honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) and similar opt-out preference signals where required.
- Industry opt-outs: you can use tools such as the DAA (optout.aboutads.info), the NAI (optout.networkadvertising.org), and, in the EEA/UK, Your Online Choices (youronlinechoices.eu).
- Do Not Track: browsers may offer a “Do Not Track” setting; we do not currently respond to DNT, and we treat GPC as our supported opt-out signal.
7. Consent (EEA/UK and similar regions)
Where required, we set non-essential cookies only after you provide consent, and you may withdraw consent at any time through your browser settings. Should we introduce non-essential cookies that require consent, we will provide a consent banner and preference controls before they are set.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last Updated” date and, where required, ask for renewed consent.
